The Weekend That Was

We're really having some weather here in the Northwest. Connie has written about all the rain they're getting in the western part of the state; we've had some showers here all weekend, some strong wind on Saturday night, and today's high was just over 70 degrees!! What a change after 20 degrees on Halloween.

Saturday we did some yard cleanup which of course needs to be done again after all the wind and rain. We also stored the outdoor furniture under the deck along with some bikes and scooters that won't be seeing much action again until spring. Saturday evening DH and I went to a Gracefull Dinner with some church friends which we enjoyed very much.

Marring all the joy of raking leaves and good fellowship was the virus that hit the twins over the weekend - first Kevin, then Kyle. Kirsten and Melanie had already been its victims early in the week. Seems like it was just a little 24-hour kind of thing, so all that was needed was some extra sleep. Just wonder who it will strike next. It would be good to let it run its course before Thanksgiving when all the family is together. It's pretty awful when the entire family gathers and shares the stomach flu. Done that way too many times!

Well, on a happier note, I've completed another section of my SB ornament piece and have started the 2006 design! Feels good to be on the home stretch.

Michaels had DMC floss on sale last week, so I took advantage and bought up a bunch to fill the holes in my collection. As I was going through the list of numbers, I was surprised that I am missing so many! Hmmmm, part of that could be that some have been pulled for projects, but still I'll be watching for the next sale. A handful of floss bought now and then doesn't hurt the budget at all.

This week I'll be stitching madly away at a few little projects (hardanger ornaments) for my church's silent auction on the 11th. And I'll bake a few loaves of cinnamon bread as well. Food items are always popular with the men in the crowd. :)

Well we have had over 4 inches of rain in the last 24 hours...and it is still coming down! I hope that we don't float away...lots of towns are now underwater and many more being evacuated! I think we need Noah's ark. we are heading for breaking a record for most rain in 60 years!!!!

Oh dear, I remember having sick people at Thanksgiving one time or another when I was growing up. I was victimized when Sean was about 5, flat on my back when I was suppose to host the dinner. Crossing fingers everyone is well this year. Tell the kids to use that germ killing lotion faithfully. Green tea is good too-my sister-in-law noticed that since her two drink it a lot, they are healthier.

I hope that bug will have left the house in time for Thanksgiving, Von!

I hope everyone will stay healthy! Illness during holiday times adds a bit of unwanted stress, in my experience.

Your SB ornies are great. I love the series!

The poor kids, stomach flu is not a fun way to spend a day, but at least its over quickly. I hope you manage to dodge this one yourself, Von!

Yikes, large families and stomach flu...been there and done that and hope that I don't have to again for a looooooong time!
Your SB ornies are looking great. I did them all up and gave them to a charity auction at our Church this summer...mine went fast! I want to do another set for myself and seeing your weekly progress, Von makes the wanting all the more tangible!
:o)

Von,

I can't wait to see all of the SB ornaments completed; so precious!!!

Is there a chance you'll post the cinnamon bread recipe? It sounds great!

Lovely SB ornaments ... I don't have all the floss numbers either. Went to Hobby Lobby on Monday afternoon for 3011 - a dull green color. [the LNS is too far to drive for one or two skeins of floss].

Hope all the bugs have cleared out by now. I have seen all the 'water' and 'rain' pictures on t.v. What a mess.
