Back in the Box

Time for those little Thanksgiving cuties to be put away and the Christmas decorations to begin appearing again around the house. In thinking about opening these boxes again, I've been trying to figure out how to rearrange the main living areas to better accommodate our Christmas crowd. The house that seemed so large nineteen years ago has definitely shrunk as the family has grown. Add the Boise folks at the holidays, and space is definitely lacking!

Today was spent decluttering a few boxes in the garage and some space in the storage room that will soon (I hope) be a new bedroom. Still have lots to do, but I'm trying to celebrate every baby step towards my goal. If I grow weary in the battle, this should reinspire me. I'm a fairly new Posy reader, but I think you might enjoy her crafting and creativity as much as I have the last few weeks.

My time in Boise didn't allow for much blog reading, but I'll get around to visit you all sometime soon. I did spend some time stitching a Christmas gift and have almost finished it. Got around to doing a little shopping including a stop at Williams Sonoma at the Boise mall. DD Mystie and I picked up a few new kitchen toys there. Little dgs Hans went along on the shopping trip and did so well walking around with us with a minimal amount of meltdowns! We both had some very specific items on our shopping lists and were successful in finding only a few. Oh well, internet shopping is much easier on my feet!

A big snowstorm hit the Northwest Sunday just in time for our trip home. We left Boise in the early afternoon in hopes that temperatures would rise and improve road conditions. Snow fell for a brief part of the trip, but over the top of the Blue Mountains road conditions were awful - a sheet of ice for miles, bumper-to-bumper traffic at 5-10 mph. At least there was the freshly snow-powdered forest to enjoy as we crawled along. And we did arrive home safely to find the remnants of the snowstorm even here in Kennewick.

Yikes, driving in a snowstorm scares me now that I'm out of the habit. I'm glad you arrived home safely!

Good luck creating/discovering room for the upcoming Christmas holidays with your big, wonderful family!! :)

Those road conditions sound awful - I'm so glad you arrived home safely.

Our house is always in major need of decluttering before I can think of bringing out any of the Christmas decorations. What a chore, but its so worth it once the house is done and looks so festive.

I'm horribly behind in my blog reading so I just want to send hugs and prayers to you, Mystie and the rest of the family at the sad news.

I'm very happy to discover your site : I have 5 children (young adults now) among whom one is a Down Syndrom young man et one is disabled. Yet we are a very happy family and we enjoy life as it is. I do like baking bread although it's not so common in my country as it's in yours. Do you guess from where i'm writing to you? I'm French. If you want to know a little more about my life, my area and my passions, just have a look at my site. It's written in French and in English. Bye for now. It's time to go to bed for me. I'll come back soon.

I'm glad you had fun shopping with the little ones. I like to shop in certain stores, after that, it's the internet all the way!
Thanks for the link to Posy too. : )

Sorry I have not visited in a while, I was sorry to hear your sad news about the baby and I hope you know everyone is thinking about you all.
Your trip sounded good apart from the snowstorm, I cannot imagine the scale of the ones you must get and some of ours can be quite bad. Hope your house decorating is coming on I shall start this weekend or next and I must say I love the fairy lights on the trees that you see looking in peoples windows and the house seems much cosier when it is all decorated, yes I am talking myself into this weekend...lol
Take care and have a good weekend

A snow storm! How romantic that sounds (well, when you're safely in the house with no earthly reason to go out), but how dangerous, too. I'm glad you made it back safely!
Sorry I haven't been around for a while. Deadlines, deadlines...
