Sewing Saturday

The sewing machine finally was brought out on Saturday afternoon and we spent some quality time together. First I sewed some seam treatments on the second purse panel, then I pulled out some fibers to couch on them. Now, I've never done any couching with my machine, so this was all a learning experience. I'm not entirely happy with the outcome, but I learned something, and have more to learn no doubt! It was great fun! Next time I'm going to try couching with the clear thread and see what kind of luck I have with it.

When I finished embellishing the front and back, I began to put together the inside lining. I had some difficulty understanding the directions, so ended up making some adjustments. Normal learning curve. :) Next on the list is assembling the outside pieces, constructing the handle, and I'll be pretty much done!

Saturday evening DH and I watched "Walk the Line" that we'd recorded off HBO with our dvr. Gosh I'm liking that thing! It's great to be able to go back and rerun a scene if you miss a line of a live tv show, or just be able to pause it, then come back to and continue watching. We also record several shows to watch at a more convenient time for us - a family favorite is "The Colbert Report".

While watching tv Sunday evening, I finished the SB ornament! Yay! Now to move on to the next one.

Oooo, pretty colors! We swear by our DVR too :-) We just switched from cable to Dish Network yesterday, but their DVR seems to be just as wonderful. Thank goodness!

I am still of the mind that Mountain Dew and the DVR were invented just to make my life easier. :o)

Glad you're feeling better!

That Crazy Quilt bag is great!

How was "Walk the Line" ? Every time I see that Motel 8 commercial, with the Johnny Cash song "I've been everywhere..." I start singing my own version...which isn't nearly as exciting as Johnny's because I've not really been anywhere....LOL!!
:o)

Hi Von! Absolutely gorgeous fabrics you're sewing with! I can't tell there's anything amiss with what you've done.

I love the DVR too! In fact, couldn't live without it now that I'm used to it.

I REALLY love what you're doing with the Shepherd's Bush ornies. Wish I'd thought of that. I started out doing them singly with the pricey sterling silver charms, and I only bought two. Well, guess what? They're tarnished and ugly. Never again! I still may do what you're doing with yours (stitching them togehter on one piece), but you can bet I'll try to find substitutes for the silver charms.
