Invasion of the Boys

It has started. Boys from all over town have begun to descend upon my humble domicile. Kevin and Kyle's birthday (actually on the 22nd) celebration has begun. Not too many boys mind you, about seven extras, but they are sleeping over, so it will indeed feel like I've been invaded before much longer. In an effort to appease them, I have lots of pizza and sodas, and have sent them outside to play Capture the Flag at least until dark (much too early these days) and the pizzas have been baked.

Kirsten has escaped the invasion by fleeing with one of her best friends whose brother is here for the party. I'm not sure which is worse, rowdy boys or high-pitched little girls' giggles. :D Lucky for the rest of us that we have the basement where the boys will be spending most of their time, leaving the main living areas - and my bedroom - in comparative peace.

Really, they're all nice boys and we love having them here. :D

Kevin and Kyle will be thirteen on Sunday, both are now taller than I am, but Kyle is just barely so. It makes me so sad to think of them being teenagers now. They've been my little boys, making it easier to let the older ones go since I still had my little boys. Things will be changing drastically for me in the next few years. It's a happy-sad thing to see your children grow into young adults. But as they go, perhaps I'll have more free time - time to stitch!

Birthday parties are so exhausting, I can't imagine what it's like to have a party for twins!

Oh Von, reading your post brought tears to my eyes...although my kids are still young, I fear everyday that they will soon be grown and gone and I love them so. I understand about twin boys and birthday parties! Except I have to contend with Karate Chops and jumping around since mine are only 6. Does that still happen at 13 - the "karate chopping", I mean?! LOL!
You're a wonderful mother! And an example to us all!
:o)

Happy birthday to your boys...when I read your post a flood of memories came back of Mike and 7 of his friends playing video games until the wee hours and in the morning finding my family room and living room littered with soda bottles, pizza boxes, candy wrappers and BOYS!!! They grow up so fast, hold on tight!
