Even More Boys

It's been quite a boy week. Yesterday two brothers came at 6 a.m. to spend the day with us; yes, 6 a.m.! But that's o.k. these days because I actually get up around that time anyway, which is a huge change in my schedule since my babies have grown. Friends of ours had to travel to Tacoma for a funeral and needed a place for their two boys for the day as the kids had no desire to be cooped up in the car for eight hours and spend three or four hours sitting quietly in a church. These guys are about 9 and 12 years old, so fit in perfectly with my kids that are home all day. They brought their backpacks full of schoolbooks, I set up a table for them and we all had a great time. Before school, lunch, and after school the guys were outside running and playing - using up some of their eternal store of energy.

My dd Mystie came by in the afternoon taking the big boys to Cadets and leaving me with Hans and Jaeger. They're used to staying at Nana's again and Jaeger doesn't fuss when his mama leaves him. We watched a little bit of PBS, then played some games. I let them play out on the deck and sweep some of the leaves which they thought was big stuff, lol! Gotta love little ones. :)

I was able to get my sewing machine out - to finish sewing badges on Cadet shirts. Thank goodness Kirsten has a vest and I don't have to mess with sleeves. But that chore is finished now!

Isabelle made a good comment about buying a reconditioned TOL sewing machine. When I was wanting a Bosch mixer, this is precisely what I did and it still runs like a champ (it has to be a 70s model). If I were really considering purchasing a new sewing machine now, I'd probably look at this option. Right now, though, I don't have the time to utilize all those wonderful features, so drooling over the machines the other day was pure entertainment. But I am half-way serious about a new machine when the kids are finished homeschooling. At the earliest that is five years from now, I will have homeschooleed for 23 years and will have earned a new machine! (Gary, consider this fair warning, lol!)

At least you have 5 years to start saving those pennies :)

Sounds like the boys had lots of fun playing together. :) I can't believe you will have homeschooled for 23 years!!! That's amazing and it definitely warrants a "retirement" present.

23 years of homeschooling! You'll definitely be deserving that beauty :)

Yes, I'd say you've earned a new machine. I have a friend who has 6 children ages 4-11 and she is homeschooling them all! They are very well-behaved and well-adjusted children too. So enjoy your new machine!

I'd say a sewing machine, trip to the Bahamas and a pink cadillac would be appropriate for 23 years of homeschooling....heck just being the mother of 6 kids is deserving enought of the above things....how about throwing in a full time maid for the homeschooling bit?!
:o)

Oh what a treat a new machine would be expecially after 23 years of home schooling. I take my hat off to you Von.

Just catching up on what you have been up to over the last wee while, your kids party sounded great, and just the things that the kids do nearly wears me out reading about it.

Keep up with your ornies... looking good.
