A Little Bit of This and That

I've been plugging away at my family room reorganization, but haven't made enough progress yet for a new photo. Yes, it is indeed a large room, and it was a big reason why we bought this house. It has been a wonderful place for the kids to play and have their things, as well as a place to do homeschool for eighteen years. Now that they are older, they like to spend time on the computer, or on x-box games in the tv area of the room. The twins still spend lots of time with their Bionicles, but all the Legos are relegated to their bedroom - the pieces everywhere in this big room absolutely drove me crazy! So my studio now will take up almost half of this room; however, I still have to share some shelf space with DH's books and our collection of homeschool stuff. That's okay. :)

I, and other members of the smocking guild, had a great time yesterday evening demonstrating smocking at the fair. While going through some of my stuff, I unearthed a frame that I'd made some time ago that had our guild name in it - perfect to put on the table. With the frame were some leaflets I'd made with more info about the guild. We had several lookers. Most were trying to escape the noise blasting from the main stage from the featured attraction - Smashmouth. In the past we haven't been able to hear the bands, but they relocated the stage and boy could we hear it all! Some of the songs were really fun, but others weren't quite to our taste. We'll be back on Saturday afternoon and I hope to see more people stop by to learn more about smocking and the needlearts in general.

So, no progress reports on my Stitch banner as I've been smocking. And tonight is my monthly stamp club, so it'll be a paper craft night. DH will be taking the younger kids out to do a little geocaching on their way to astronomy night at LIGO - a facility way out of town where you don't get so much light pollution. Lots of good fun!

Isn't it great to find goodies when you clean?
You're getting your room all set up now and it will be great for crafting in the cooler months. I so want to do something to our basement-it's a catch all right now.

Glad you had a great time at the fair! The weather here is just starting to turn towards fair weather and we are excited that a few will be opening up soon here too :-) I am looking forward to your room reorganization photos!

Well, noise has the power to make me flee, just like when there are too many people around. I'm sorry that you didn't have the best of spots at the fair...
I'm sure your re-organized big room will be a huge success! It's the kind of thing we love doing at the end of summer, probably because we are aware that we'll have to spend more time inside and need it all more comfy.
HUgs!
