Switched at the Hospital!

Yes, it's true! The hospital switched my twins and I didn't know it until today.

You see, I went down to the Vital Records Dept. to get a birth certificate for Brendan and thought that as long as I was there I'd get Kevin and Kyle's too to complete my set. I filled out the forms, gave the nice lady my credit card and walked out with a plump envelope. Sitting in the XP before leaving the parking lot, I decided to go ahead and look at the papers. Imagine my shock to find that Kyle was listed as being born at 11:51 a.m. and Kevin at 12:14 p.m. when I KNOW it was the other way around.

So I sauntered back into the office to declare that my twins had been switched. The nice lady promptly sent me to the hospital where they were born to get the corrections made. Of course, the records person in charge of such things is on vacation this week, as I will be next week. They made copies of the certificates, I made the corrections and left my address and phone number, as well as getting the name and phone for this vacationing clerk.

I'm not sure what kind of questions and bureaucratic nonsense I'm going to have to field to get proper birth certificates, so stay tuned! In the meantime we've had lots of fun with this, lol!

We had more fun later in the day. Brendan received immunization boosters this afternoon in preparation for the coming school year. Later I was leaving the house again to run an errand and caught DD Melanie coming home when I immediately informed her that, "Brendan has been shot!" A gasp of horror from her. "Yes, six times in the arm!" "O my goodness!" she cries. And then I break up into hysterical laughter and tell her it's just immunizations. Melanie laughs too and tells me that now she knows where she gets her mean streak.

It's been a good day.

My goodness - you scared me! I thought you were telling us you got the wrong kids! LOL Hey, that is a lot of hours between each being born.... I thought that was going to be the error, but apparently not! That must have been one rough day for you and your DH! Glad to hear, though, that you did get the right kids!

Oh wait... my math error - it was only about 25 minutes between the boys - LOL! I thought it was half a day. I guess I am tired and better go to bed now!

Hi Von:

What a surprise! Maybe it won't be much of a challenge to get it straightened out. Paperwork!

yes, too hot to get anything accomplished IMO. Tho, I am taking Tori shopping as she moves back to the dorm on the 11th. Watch my wallet flatten + credit card melt.

Sounds like loads of fun heading your way! Your shot in the arm bit was brilliant. I shall have to file that under "mean mommy" for future reference. lol!

Von, you are so bad! Hilarious, of course for a minute there I did think your twins were switched!

So, do the boys believe you? Or does Kevin insist on being older now?! :)

My mom insists those types of things only happen to our family...I have sent her a link to your blog to prove otherwise. :) Ann.

Haha, that's too funny - you were so cruel to Melanie about Brendan ... gave me a giggle, though ;P

the headline really shocked me!!! Von, don't do something like that again ;-) I really thought you didn't take the right babies back home....
But I breath a sigh of relief to read that it's just a bureaucratic mistake. :-)
