Happy, Hot Fourth!
I wish every one of you a happy Independence Day!
There has been precious little to blog about the last few days because it's so blasted HOT! And it's another scorcher today, at 8:45 a.m. it's 85 degrees and rising quickly. Our one wall a/c unit does take the edge off and I've noticed a difference with our new windows, but it's hard to fight against open access to the attic. At this point in the installation, you just can't seal it all up at the end of the day. So the holes are covered, but the heat still easily comes into the main part of the house. I'm just about at the end of my endurance. Looking at the weather report, I see a cooling trend - down to about 90! Hey, I'll take it!! Blessed relief. :D
Today we'll picnic with church friends at a local park by the river, which always means fun. The kids are looking forward to swimming. I imagine that the heat will start to get to us all by around 2 p.m. and we'll head home for a siesta. Later in the evening we go down to Columbia Park for the fireworks display. Usually we settle down in a quieter section of the park, but tonight we'll venture to the main activity area to see a musical performance given by daughters of friends. They're very talented girls, and it's good to lend support to their efforts. Getting out of the park is the big hassle, so I imagine we'll not be in a big hurry to leave. The temperature should be about right at midnight - 74 degrees.
Thank you all for your wonderful birthday wishes. It's amazing how quickly blogging friends become such an important part of life. :)
